Celebrating Igbo heritage in the heart of Calgary
Our Story
In 2001, a group of distinguished Igbo people in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, came together with a shared vision. They established the Igbo Cultural Association of Calgary (ICAC)to preserve, celebrate, and share the richness of Igbo culture with future generations and the broader Canadian community.
Our Mission
To promote all aspects of the Igbo culture that would positively contribute to the progress, development, and welfare of our members while enhancing the Canadian multicultural mosaic.
Our Vision
To be the leading cultural organization that bridges Igbo heritage with Canadian values, creating a vibrant community where traditions flourish and connections thrive.
Community Outreach and Development
ICAC is committed to giving back to the Calgary community through various volunteer initiatives:
- •Monthly volunteer work at the Calgary Drop-In Centre.
- •Continuous food drives for the Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank.
- •Annual cash donations to local charities.
Scholarships & Cultural Activities
- •Scholarships: Awarded to members and their children for academic excellence.
- •Cultural Events: Annual Igbo Day Celebration showcasing Igbo traditions.
- •Social Gatherings: Monthly meetings (every third Sunday), picnics, and other networking events.
